Haryana: Agriculture Fair in Hisar from 8-10 October

30 September 2023, Chandigarh: Haryana Agriculture Minister Mr. J.P. Dalal today stated that he believes that  the present government in the country is best for farmer welfare as it is focusing on increasing farmers’ income and providing them with facilities.

Speaking at a national conference organized by Crop Life India on the topic of “India -Emerging as a Global Food Hub” at the India Habitat Center in New Delhi, Agriculture Minister Mr. Dalal said that the Haryana farmers were being encouraged to take up diversification in crops and understand market demands. The farmer need to produce crops according to market demand.

He informed that Asia’s largest market, spanning over 550 acres, is under construction in Ganaur in district Sonipat of Haryana, and it will be better than markets in developed countries like Spain and Paris. The aim of developing this big market is to provide farmers with facilities for grading, packaging and sorting at the block and tehsil levels and ultimately exporting their quality products to the international market.

Agriculture Minister Mr. Dalal said he himself is a farmer and tries to understand the day to day problems of farmers and try to resolve those problems. He acknowledged the significant contribution of Haryana’s farmers to the country’s food reserves. He praised their hard work, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, when they continued to work tirelessly to ensure food security for the nation. He mentioned that Haryana is currently purchasing the highest number of 14 crops at minimum support prices (MSP).

He expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Modi for making efforts to declare 2023 as the International Year of Millets, which will greatly benefit farmers in Haryana and Rajasthan. This initiative aims to transform millets, previously used primarily for poultry feed, into premium products.

Agriculture Minister Mr. Dalal urged people to remember the efforts and hard work of farmers whenever they buy grains or fruits. He appealed the organizations engaged in manufacture and marketing of agriculture products to prepare a Program to educate the farmers about better crop management, pesticide usage, and seed selection, which will be highly beneficial for them.

He mentioned that an agricultural fair is scheduled to take place at Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University in Hisar from October 8 to 10. This event will witness the participation of Chief Minister Mr. Manohar Lal, Governor Mr. Bandaru Dattatraya, several state ministers, and a large number of farmers. Minister Mr. Dalal invited everyone to attend the fair, and he expressed his intention to expand it to the scale of the Surajkund Fair and organise it every year in future.
