How to control Pink bollworm in cotton (91-120 days)?

10 July 2023, New Delhi: Central Institute for Cotton Research – Sirsa, Haryana has issued an advisory to the farmers to get higher yields of cotton crop. In this advice, cotton farmers have been told by the institute to save the crop from the outbreak of pink bollworms in 91-120 days old crop and to control these insects.

Control of spotted bollworm and American bollworm in cotton-

Use insecticides in 91-120 days old cotton crops to control pink bollworms and spotted bollworms. Apart from this, always use the insecticide by changing it. Control bollworms in cotton (91-120 days) in the following way-

Control of pink bollworms in cotton 

In case of pink bollworm infestation, chlorpyrifos 20 EC (1250 ml) or Thiodicarb. 75 WP( 560-1000 gm) or Quinolphos 20 SF(1250-2250 ml) or Profenophos 50 EC(1250-2000 ml) or Indoxacarb 14.5 EC (500 ml) or spray Emamectin Benzoate 5 SG (250 grams) per hectare. 

Control of spotted bollworm and American bollworm in cotton-

Spinosad 45 SC for the control of spotted bollworm and American bollworm in native cotton and American cotton. (150ml) or Flubendiamide 480 sc. (American caterpillar) (100 ml) or Indoxacarb 14.5 EC (500 ml) or Spinatoram 11.7 sc. (425 ml) or Chlortraniliprole 18.5 sc. Spray (American caterpillar) (150 ml) per hectare.
