ICAR-AICRP on Fruits organizes its “9th Group Discussion”

16 March 2022, New Delhi: The ICAR-All India Coordinated Research Project on Fruits, ICAR-Indian Institute of Horticultural Research, Bengaluru, Karnataka virtually organized its “9th Group Discussion” from 8th to 11th March, 2022.

In his address, the Chief Guest, Dr. Anand Kumar Singh, Deputy Director General (Horticultural Science), ICAR stressed on the need to approach Horticulture as an Enterprise. Dr. Singh accentuated to make the efforts for doubling the exports of horticultural commodities by meeting the expectations of the importing countries.

The Guest of Honor, Dr. Vikramaditya Pandey, ADG (Horticultural Science – 1), ICAR urged the young researchers to plan on the aspects of abiotic stress physiology in relation to the climate change in the Perennial Fruit Crops.

The Guest of Honor, Dr. B.K. Pandey, ADG (Horticultural Science – II), ICAR emphasized on the impact analysis of technologies, removal of duplicates in plant genetic resources conserved and doubling the farmers’ income by minimizing the post-harvest losses.

Dr. B.N.S. Murthy, Director, ICAR-Indian Institute of Horticultural Research, Bengaluru, Karnataka urged the researchers for planning the long-term experiments and validation of the results at the various Centres. This, he stated, will help to minimize the gap between the expectations of farmers and the technology recommended.

Around 9 Publications of ICAR-AICRP were also released during the occasion.

About 200 Delegates from 50 Participating Centres across the country participated in the deliberations.
