ICAR-NIASM, Baramati celebrates its 14th Foundation Day

23 February 2022, New Delhi: The ICAR-National Institute of Abiotic Stress Management, Baramati, Pune, Maharashtra celebrated its 14th Foundation Day today.

Dr. Trilochan Mohapatra, Secretary (DARE) & Director General (ICAR) marked his presence as the Chief Guest of the occasion. In his address, the DG outlined the roadmap to work for addressing the issues of abiotic stress by screening the high yield pulse and oil seed genotypes, initiating research trials on natural farming in fruit orchards and building databases by using data analogue tools to sustain income in dryland situations, etc. Dr. Mohapatra also inaugurated the Hostel Facilities (Konark-Men & Koyana-Women) of the Institute during the occasion.

The Guest of Honor, Dr. Suresh Kumar Chaudhari, Deputy Director General (Natural Resource Management), ICAR underlined the Institute’s journey in the last decade in the development and research fronts.

The Special Guest, Dr. T.A. More, Former Vice-Chancellor, Mahatma Phule Krishi Vidyapeeth, Rahuri, Maharashtra delivered the Foundation Day Lecture on “Fruit and Vegetable in Arid zone: Abiotic Stress Management”.

Earlier, in his welcome address, Dr. Himanshu Pathak, Director, ICAR-NIASM, Baramati, Pune highlighted the Institute’s achievements.

The Senior Officials of ICAR Headquarters and various ICAR Institutes also virtually participated in the event.
