ICAR-Short Course on “Genetic Resources of Tuber Crops” organized
05 February 2022, New Delhi: The ICAR-Central Tuber Crops Research Institute, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala organized the ICAR-Short Course on “Genetic Resources of underutilized Tuber Crops” today.
The Chief Guest, Dr. P. Pugazhendi, I.F.S., Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, Government of Kerala shared his experience on the traditional knowledge, sustainability of tribal life and conservation of the underutilized crops.
The Guest of Honor, Dr. Jai C. Rana, Alliance of Bioversity International and CIAT underlined the role of the Neglected and Underutilised Species (NUS) in meeting the current demands of food and nutritional security.
Dr. Vikramaditya Pandey, ADG (Horticultural Science), ICAR was also present during the occasion.
Earlier, Dr. M.N. Sheela, Director, ICAR-CTCRI, Thiruvananthapuram delivered the welcome address.
A total of 26 participants from Central Agricultural Universities, State Agricultural Universities and Krishi Vigyan Kendra participated in the programme.
