Padma Bhushan Dr. R. S. Paroda visits ICAR-CCRI, Nagpur
03 April 2024, Nagpur: Padma Bhushan Dr. R. S. Paroda, Former Secretary (DARE) and Director General (ICAR) visited the ICAR-Central Citrus Research Institute (ICA in Nagpur today.
Dr. Dilip Ghosh, Director, ICAR-CCRI, highlighted the institute’s achievements and ongoing activities, praising its excellent R&D initiatives in the field of citriculture.
Dr. Paroda emphasized the importance of scaling up the production of disease-free planting material and emphasized the need for the development of low-cost technologies for insect pests and disease management. He highlighted the significance of processing and value-addition technologies, as well as the introduction of high-quality exotic varieties and germplasm exploration in northeast India within the citrus domain. In addition, Dr. Paroda proposed the creation of a regional center in the North-west region, focusing on kinnow mandarin farmers, to enhance the benefits of the citrus industry in the region.
Dr. Paroda toured the research labs, citrus nursery, and experimental fields of ICAR-CCRI, gaining firsthand insights into the institute’s research infrastructure and ongoing projects. His served as a testament to the commendable efforts of ICAR-CCRI in advancing citrus research and development, while also providing valuable guidance for future endeavors in the field.
