KVK hoshiarpur hosts training on packaging, labelling, and marketing of agricultural produce for entrepreneurs

22 February 2024, Punjab: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Hoshiarpur, in collaboration with the Directorate of Extension Education, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), Ludhiana, organized a comprehensive one-day training program aimed at enhancing the packaging, labelling, and marketing skills of entrepreneurs, Self Help Group (SHG) members, and Farmers’ Producer Organizations (FPOs) on February 19, 2024.

Dr Maninder Singh Bons, Associate Director (Training), KVK Hoshiarpur, underscored the critical importance of equipping participants with the requisite knowledge and skills in packaging, labelling, and marketing to meet market demands and effectively compete.

Dr Mahesh Kumar, Professor, Department of Processing and Food Engineering, PAU, elaborated on various packaging techniques and emphasized the significance of proper labelling and the FSSAI quality mark.

Dr Manveeer Singh, Scientist at the School of Business Studies, PAU, delved into the pivotal role of branding in agricultural produce marketing, elucidating marketing principles and citing successful branding examples. He also advocated for a collaborative approach among farmers for success in this domain.

The event featured KVK Hoshiarpur scientists Dr Ajaib Singh, Dr Prabhjot Kaur, Dr Karmvir Singh Garcha, and Dr Sukhdeep Kaur, who provided valuable insights on value addition and processing of cereals, pulses, oilseeds, and honey, vegetables, and fruits.

The training programme culminated in a fruitful interaction between the experts and farmers, where queries were addressed, and knowledge was shared, enriching the participants’ understanding of the packaging, labelling, and marketing aspects of agricultural produce.
