Minister Tang Renjian Meets with Honduran Counterpart
16 June 2023, China: Minister Tang Renjian met with Laura Suazo, Secretary of Agriculture and Livestock of Honduras, in Beijing on June 13, 2023. The two sides exchanged views on China-Honduras agricultural cooperation.
Minister Tang Renjian stated China-Honduras agricultural and fishery cooperation has had a solid political foundation since the establishment of diplomatic relations in March. China is willing to enhance mutual trust and build consensus with Honduras in agriculture and further unleash cooperation potential based on the Memorandum of Understanding on agricultural cooperation, whose signing was witnessed by the two heads of state.
Minister Tang Renjian introduced China’s experience in ensuring food security and alleviating poverty, emphasizing the importance of the integration of long-term plans with short-term ones, coordination of S&T, policies and institutional arrangements, and capacity building. In addition, greater synergy is ensured among agricultural technology, machinery and equipment, infrastructure, and credit.
Laura Suazo praised China’s achievements and experience in agricultural and rural development. She agreed with Minister Tang, expressing the willingness to open up a new chapter in agricultural cooperation with China.
