KVK Hoshiarpur organizes training on paddy residue management techniques
21 October 2021, Punjab: Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Hoshiarpur conducted a training programme on different techniques of paddy residue management on 19-10-2021 at M S Randhawa Fruit Research Station, Gangian, for progressive farmers from different villages of block Dasuya.
At the outset, Dr. Sumanjit Kaur, Incharge, M S Randhawa Fruit Research Station, Gangian welcomed the experts and the farmers and laid stress on the proper management of paddy residue through the proper use of farm machinery.
On this occasion, different technical lectures were arranged for the benefit of the farmers.
Dr. Maninder Singh Bons, Deputy Director, KVK, Hoshiarpur, exhorted the participants to curb the practice of crop residue burning and highlighted harmful effects of burning of crop residue burning. He informed about the various nutrients available in the paddy residue and their importance for the soil health. Dr. Bons also informed that management of paddy residue is of utmost importance at this moment and gave a detailed account about the recommended paddy residue management technologies.
Dr. Charanjeet Kaur, District Extension Specialist (Seniormost), Farm Advisory Service Centre, Gangian shared important tips regarding improved varieties, cultivation practices, integrated nutrition management and weed control regarding rabi crops- wheat, gram, lentil and gobhi sarson.
Dr. Rakesh Kumar Sharma, District Extension Specialist (Entomology), Farm Advisory Service Centre, Gangian discussed in detail about the integrated pest management practices and seed treatment in rabi crops.
On this occasion, winter vegetable seed kits, PAU package of practices for rabi crops and wheat consortium cultures were also provided to the farmers.
In the end, Dr. Indira Devi, District Extension Specialist (Fruit Science), Farm Advisory Service Centre, Gangian thanked the experts and the farmers.
