Adopt subsidiary occupations to augment income: Pau expert to farmers

29 January 2021, Punjab, IN: The Department of Extension Education conducted a one-day training programme on “Mushroom Growing” at village Kalakh under Entrepreneurship programme for schedule caste, ICAR, New Delhi. The training, which was held in collaboration with Skill Development Centre, PAU, was organised under the guidance of Dr Kuldeep Singh, Head, Department of Extension Education. As many as 20 trainees participated in the programme.

While welcoming the farmers, Dr Dharminder Singh, Senior Extension Scientist, emphasized the importance of training in successful adoption of different subsidiary occupations to augment their income. He also elaborated on health and economic benefits of mushroom cultivation.

Ms Manmeet Kaur, an expert from the Department of Microbiology, shared details of mushroom cultivation and gave method demonstration on dhingri mushroom growing.

Dr Lakhwinder Kaur, Extension Scientist, urged the farmers to read farm literature programmes. She also threw light on the role of farm women in mushroom cultivation.

Dr Santosh Kumar, Agriculture Development Officer, proposed a vote of thanks. Mushroom seed/compost bag and relevant literature were also distributed among the trainees.
