PAU experts impart training in mushroom cultivation

07 February 2021, Punjab, IN: In total, 20 farmers attended the one-day training programme on “Mushroom Growing” organized by the Department of Extension Education in collaboration with Skill Development Centre, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU). The training course was held at village Abbuwal under the aegis of Entrepreneurship Programme for Schedule Caste, ICAR, New Delhi. The training was organised under the guidance of Dr Kuldeep Singh, Head, Department of Extension Education.

While welcoming the farmers, Dr Lakhwinder Kaur, Extension Scientist, urged the farmers to read PAU farm literature for latest recommendations. She also elaborated on nutritional benefits of mushrooms for human health.

Ms Manmeet Kaur, an expert from the Department of Microbiology, shared details of mushroom cultivation and imparted method demonstration on dhingri mushroom growing.

Dr Dharminder Singh, Senior Extension Scientist, emphasised the importance of subsidiary occupations in the farm income. He also highlighted the role of farm women in mushroom cultivation.

Mr Ravinder Singh, Sarpanch of the village, lauded efforts of PAU scientists in organising different extension activities in the village.
