Banana Variety Peyan (AAB)
10 December 2023, New Delhi: Banana Variety Peyan is also known as Madal Vazhai. Peyan is one of the rarely grown varieties of banana. Fruits are short having thick rinds prominently ridged. An ashy green finger turns pale yellow upon ripening. Fruits are white fleshed with soft and sweet pulp and have a peculiar aromatic flavor similar to that of ‘Chikku’ fruits.
Fruits are very sweet with a TSS content ranging from 26-27° B. Owing to their medicinal value with good cooling effect and rare availability, the fruits fetch premium prices in the market.
It is recommended for pregnant women, children as well as for those who suffer from piles.
