Banana Variety Grande Naine (AAA)
10 December 2023, New Delhi: It is the most suitable variety for the export market. Grand Naine yields bunch weighing 30-35 kg in crop duration of 11-12 months. Number of hands varies from 8-10 with 200-220 fruits/bunch.
The fruit is 18-23 cm in length and 12-13 cm in girth. Internationally, it is acceptable both for dessert and processing purposes. It has a better pulp-to-peel ratio and has more market acceptability. Fruit peel develops an attractive golden-yellow color when stored at optimum conditions of 22-25° Celcius.
The fruit pulp is pale yellow in color, mealy in texture, and pleasantly flavored with a TSS of 24-26° B. The fruits are highly suitable for the juice and wine industries and yield a high percentage of good quality juice/ wine with a pleasant aroma. Fruits are highly suitable for preparing milkshakes, Halwa, and Banana powder which in turn is used in ‘Baby foods’, ‘chocolates’ and ‘Ice creams’
