KVK, Kapurthala Organizes Webinar on “DIRECT SEEDED RICE”

10 May 2021, Punjab: The Punjab Agricultural University’s Krishi Vigyan Kendra Kapurthala, under the guidance of Dr. J.S. Mahal, Director of Extension Education, PAU, Ludhiana has started series of webinars on different agricultural technologies and first episode in this regard was organized on “Direct Seeded Rice” (DSR) technology under the guidance of Dr. Satbir Singh, Deputy Director (Trg.) on 11.05.2021.

Dr. Satbir Singh welcomes the participants and emphasized them for sharing their valuable experiences so that transfer of DSR technology can be spread to farmers on a wider scale.

Dr. Gobinder Singh Assistant Professor (Soil Science) conducted this webnair and addressed the nutrient management related queries of participants. Dr. Jaspal Singh (ADO, Sultanpur) elaborated advantages of DSR and also highlight the challenges associated with DSR cultivation. Dr. Amit Salaria, Assistant Professor (Agronomy) explained the details of various weed control measures to control weeds in DSR. Dr. Bindu, Associate Professor (Agri Engg) sharing personal experiences regarding the working of machines and the method to convert domestically available machines into DSR machines. Dr. Suman Kumari, Assistant Professor (Plant Protection) highlight the importance of seed treatment in paddy and basmati and explained the seed treatment methodology to the farmers.

Among the various progressive farmers of the district, S. Sarwan Singh Chandi, Dara Singh, Devinder Singh shared their valuable past experiences of DSR cultivation. Around 35 farmers and officials participated in this programme. Dr. Gobinder Singh proposed the vote of thanks and urged the participants to join again in the coming webinar for transfer the DSR technology among masses.
