Secretary (DARE) and Director General (ICAR) inaugurate the voyage of the ICAR-KVK Golden Jubilee Torch in Zone-V

02 April 2024, New Delhi: Dr. Himanshu Pathak, Secretary (DARE) & Director General (ICAR) inaugurated the voyage of the ICAR-KVK Golden Jubilee Torch in, Zone-V comprising Odisha, West Bengal, and A&N Islands today from ICAR-KVK (A), Nadia. The KVK Golden Jubilee Torch relay symbolizes the spirit of KVK service to the farming community and simultaneously is being carried out in all 11 ATARIs as a part of the Golden Jubilee celebrations of KVKs.

Dr. Pathak said that the torch will act as a symbol of knowledge transfer by KVKs to all districts. He spoke about the crucial role of KVKs in propelling agricultural technology transmission since 1974 when the first KVK was established. Dr. Himanshu also called upon to intensify the work of KVK during Amrit Kaal to address the aspirations of farmers.

Dr. R. Bhatta, Deputy Director General (AS), ICAR, emphasised the importance of KVK in the dissemination of farm technology.

Dr. D. Singh, Director, ICAR-National Dairy Research Institute, Karnal acknowledged the work carried out by KVKs at the grassroots level.

Dr. Pradip Dey, Director, ICAR-ATARI, Kolkata said that the torch relay will create a ripple effect in KVKs to serve as a change catalyst and convergence hub for Indian agriculture to accomplish the aspirations of the Nation by 2047.

Dr. G. Kar, Director, ICAR-Central Research Institute for Jute and Allied Fibers, Barrackpore, Dr. S. Banik, Head, ICAR-NDRI (RS), Kalyani, Dr. Arnab Sen, ICAR-Indian Veterinary Research Institute (Eastern Regional Centre), Kolkata, Dr. Chirantan Chattopadhyay, I/c, ICAR-CSRSJAF, Budbud, Dr. T.K. Ghoshal, Head, ICAR-Central Institute of Fisheries Education, Kolkata Centre, Dr. Baidyanath Paul, I/c, ICAR-Central Institute of Freshwater Aquaculture RRC, Rahara, Dr. S.K. Ray, Head, ICAR-KVK (A), Nadia were present on the occasion.

The torch relay will conclude with the final leg, carrying it to the ICAR-KVK Golden Jubilee Conference 2024 Grand celebration in New Delhi.
