CSKHPAU to create new facilities for the students and farmers: Dr.D.K.Vatsa

02 January 2024, Palampur: Dr. D.K.Vatsa, Vice Chancellor, Chaudhary Sarwan Kumar Himachal Pradesh Agriculture University, has exhorted the staff to work with renewed commitments to serve the farming community in this new year. During his New Year address, while conveying his greetings to the University community, the Vice-Chancellor said that the right introspection reveals deficiencies of the past year and provides the opportunity to plan afresh for the progress of the institution, society, state, and nation. He asked scientists to get maximum number of research projects sanctioned. He said that foundation stones of agriculture labs worth Rs five crore and an examination hall worth Rs. four crore will be laid this year.

Dr D.K.Vatsa underlined the importance of agriculture and increasing food production to feed the ever increasing population. He said that students need to work hard. He said that there is need to prepare a master plan to face new challenges like climate change. He underlined the importance of maintaining sustainability for farming as well as for the University . He discussed financial stress in the University and asked all to help in revenue generation. Dr Vatsa sought the cooperation of the University community to take forward the University and improve its ranking. He asked all to give their suggestions for ‘Institutional development plan.’ He suggested creating a corpus development fund where donations from alumni are sought. It will help in creating new facilities for the students and farmers. He said a unit will be created to generate funds.

The Vice Chancellor appreciated all organs of the University for their good work in the preceding year enabling the University to attain eighth position among all State Farm Universities of the country. He also appreciated 12 faculty members and 44 students who got trained in prestigious international institutions. 85 students qualified JRF examination. Dr Vatsa told that academic calander has been standardized. He expressed gratitude to all funding agencies for their regular financial support to the University.

Dr S.K.Upadhyay, Director of Research conducted the proceedings of the ceremony.

All the statutory officers, heads, scientists, non teaching staff, and students were present on the occasion.
