The World Food Prize Foundation Seeks Applications for Summer George Washington Carver Interns

06 February 2024, US: The World Food Prize Foundation is seeking applicants for the George Washington Carver (GWC) Internship, a program designated to provide promising young professionals with an in-depth foray into future career skills and the World Food Prize Foundation’s mission. Applications are due by February 29, 2024. 

“From day one, I felt welcomed by the World Food Prize staff,” said Bailey Rees, GWC Intern. “Everyone is so dedicated to the organization’s mission, and it’s such a thriving work environment. It really motivates me to push myself personally and professionally.”

GWC interns are paired with a staff mentor and are given the opportunity to take significant responsibility in developing, planning and executing projects integral to the future of the World Food Prize Foundation. Through this experience, GWC interns cultivate the necessary skills to navigate an international organization, while connecting with World Food Prize Laureates, government officials, industry leaders, business owners and experts in their respective fields.

Each academic semester and summer, a select group of highly qualified undergraduate students is chosen for this unique program, which provides interns with the opportunity to take significant responsibility and initiative in planning and executing a wide range of the Foundation’s projects in the following areas: ​​​​ 

  • Archival Studies
  • Awards and Lectures Management
  • Communications and Public Relations
  • Graphic Design
  • International Dialogue Programming
  • Office of the President
  • Youth Programming and Education

“It has been incredible to learn from passionate professionals in the field that have a desire to address the pressing issue of world hunger,” said Josie Hildreth, GWC Intern. “It incentivizes me to go forth in the world and to make a meaningful difference.”

The internship is flexible to successfully accepted candidates’ schedules, but a minimum commitment of 16 hours per week is required between May 20 – August 16, 2024. In addition, the internship is paid, offering a $1,500 stipend to interns.
