14 August 2023, Australia: Elders Merredin are hosting the Elders Agronomic Field Walk on Thursday 17 August. Beginning at a property near Muntadgin and spanning across six locations, it promises to be a day of innovation, discovery and collaboration for growers.
Showcasing six trial sites and multiple demonstrations, the day will showcase cutting-edge technologies and findings to assist in paddock planning for next season.
Elders Merredin’s local agronomy team will be on hand to answer any questions throughout the day, with key organiser Keith Perry, saying the event is a good opportunity to see practices in the field.
“The field walk is a unique opportunity for growers to witness the latest advancements and practices shaping our industry,” he said.
“It’s an occasion to learn from each other, and explore cutting-edge solutions for modern-day farming challenges.”
With the help of key suppliers, the event is designed to provide attendees with valuable insights into the latest advancements in the industry.
Representatives from FMC, SLR, Nufarm, GRDC, CSBP, Gentech, Pioneer, and Adama, will be on hand to conduct various demonstrations, sharing their expertise and knowledge with visitors.
Aptitude broadleaf weed demo by FMC will demonstrate groundbreaking solutions for managing invasive broadleaf weeds that have long plagued paddocks.
The pre- and early post-emergent ryegrass and radish control with SLR will provide growers with a comprehensive understanding of effective control measures to combat these persistent weeds, paving the way for healthier crops.
In a bid to address the issue of suspected resistant sites, SLR and Nufarm will present a post-emergent radish control demonstration, aiming to tackle the problem head-on with innovative strategies.
The GRDC has conducted a canola emergence trial, comparing results with and without soil wetters, providing critical data to enhance crop yield and germination rates, a topic of utmost importance in today’s ever-changing climate.
CSBP will present two essential trials focusing on nitrogen response in wheat and canola. These demonstrations aim to optimize fertilizer use, promoting sustainable practices while maximizing crop productivity.
Adama will demonstrate Ultro, looking into grass control in lupins, exploring tank mixes and current grass control practices. This demonstration seeks to offer farmers effective tools to manage grass infestations, ensuring healthier lupin crops and higher yields.
As a grand finale, McIntosh & Son will showcase the revolutionary Bilberry green-on-green spray technology. This cutting-edge innovation promises to revolutionize the way farmers apply herbicides, boosting precision and reducing environmental impact.
To complement the day’s learnings, barista made coffee and lunch will be provided, with a BBQ sundowner to round out the day.
