17 April 2024, China: The Eighth China International Food and Ingredients Expo (CIFIE) and the Second China International Pre-made Food Industry Expo (CIPFIE) were held in Dongguan, Guangdong Province in April. The Global High-level Dialogue on Agri-Food Trade was held during the expos. Ma Youxiang, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs (MARA), attended related events.

This year’s CIFIE and CIPFIE were hosted by the Agricultural Trade Promotion Center of MARA and showcased cutting-edge achievements in the global and domestic agri-food sectors. More than 1,500 companies from over 20 countries and regions worldwide and 31 provinces, autonomous regions, or municipalities in China participated in the expos, which attracted over 5,000 professional buyers.

The Global High-level Dialogue on Agri-Food Trade focused on implementing an all-encompassing approach to agriculture and food. Domestic and foreign representatives from government, business, and academia gathered together for seminars on three main topics: driving high-quality development of the agri-food sectors by developing new quality productive forces; propelling trade flows and sharing new opportunities in the agri-food sectors; and ensuring sound development of the pre-made food sector. The representatives discussed prospects for global agri-food trade, and ways to achieve mutually beneficial cooperation. The dialogue aimed to promote high-quality development of the global agri-food sectors and contribute to global food security and agricultural modernization. Around 30 themed events were held during the expos, including a seminar on international agri-trade rules, a culinary competition, and a promotion conference for international high-quality agri-trade development bases.
