27 June 2023, Canada: Acadian Plant Health™ has officially joined the Global Seaweed Coalition to facilitate the emergence of an international seaweed sector, with global safety standards, grounded in science. The Global Seaweed Coalition, formerly Safe Seaweed Coalition, aims to tackle the need for a safe and sustainable food source for a growing population.

“At Acadian Plant Health, we see incredible value in the Global Seaweed Coalition’s work and are proud to partner with them to advance the seaweed industry,” says Guillaume Lefranc, Food Chain and Sustainability Manager, Acadian Plant Health. “We are dedicated to responsible and sustainable seaweed harvesting, cultivation and extraction, and believe seaweed-based solutions can play an important role in sustainable agriculture and food security worldwide. This alignment of our goals makes us natural partners.”

The Global Seaweed Coalition is a global partnership established by Lloyd’s Register Foundation in partnership with the UN Global Compact (UNGC) and the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS) to oversee the safety and sustainability of the seaweed industry as it scales up.

As a member of the Global Seaweed Coalition, Acadian Plant Health will work together to establish a seaweed industry that provides safe products, safe working conditions and environmental protection as it grows.
