BASAI 2024: Shaping the Future of Agriculture with Biologicals
29 February 2024, New Delhi: The Industry association ‘Biological Agri Solutions Association of India (BASAI) held its annual event in the last week of February 2024 at New Delhi. The event BASAI 2024 brought together industry leaders, policymakers, scientists, and researchers to delve into the world of biologicals and their role in addressing global challenges in agriculture. The theme of the event, “Biologicals for the World Agri-inputs Tackling Global Challenges,” set the stage for insightful discussions, knowledge sharing, and showcasing of innovative products and technologies.
The event commenced with a welcome address by Juzar Khorakiwala, Chair-BASAI, who highlighted the growing importance of the biologicals sector. Khorakiwala emphasized how new regulatory measures are strengthening the foundation of the sector and promoting its sustainable growth. He stressed the need for robust research and development efforts to introduce new products that offer greater benefits to farmers.
The inaugural session featured Dr. P.K. Singh, Agriculture Commissioner, Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare, as the Chief Guest. Dr. Singh underscored the significance of biologicals in the agri-input industry and emphasized the need for effective regulation to prevent the entry of companies offering subpar products that tarnish the segment’s reputation. His address shed light on the immense potential of biologicals in addressing global agricultural challenges.
Vipin Saini, CEO of BASAI, also addressed the audience and shared insights into the association’s collaboration with the ministry to address concerns and resolve policy loopholes within the sector. Saini acknowledged the time-consuming nature of the process but expressed optimism about building strong policy support to foster the flourishing of the biologicals industry.
The two-day event featured numerous engaging sessions, including panel discussions and expert presentations by renowned scientists and research-driven organizations operating in the sector. These sessions provided a platform for participants to exchange knowledge, share best practices, and explore cutting-edge advancements in biologicals.
