Pusa Swarnim (IGC-01)
20 July 2023, New Delhi: A Brassica carinata (Karan rai/Ethiopian mustard) variety, suitable for cultivation in Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, and parts of UP. It has a very high degree of drought tolerance and observes an immune reaction against white rust disease. The severity of Alternaria blight disease is reported to be low in this variety.
Salient Feature
The average seed yield under Irrigated conditions is about 16-17 q/ha. Whereas, under rainfed conditions, it is about 14-15 q/ha. Its seeds are yellow with 40-43% oil content. It matures in about 165 days.
