Advanta Seeds makes an excellent debut with a rank of #4 in Access to Seeds Index 2021 for Western and Central Africa
23 September 2021, Africa: Advanta Seeds has been ranked #4 out of 32 seed companies in the latest regional Access to Seeds Index (ATSI) for Western and Central Africa (WCA). It is the first time Advanta Seeds qualified and participated in ATSI. The ATSI foundation is an independent, non-profit organization that evaluates and compares seed companies according to their efforts to improve access to quality seeds of improved varieties for smallholder farmers.
The ATSI index for West and Central Africa was published on September 21, 2021, by the World Benchmarking Alliance (WBA). World Benchmarking Alliance is scheduled for the official launch at the UN Food System Summit on September 23.
The WBA is a non-profit organization measuring and evaluating the private sector’s impact and contribution to the UN Sustainable Development Goals to secure a sustainable future for all.
In the measurement areas evaluated, ATSI placed Advanta Seeds in the top 2 of all 32 companies in two areas: sales and marketing and capacity building. ATSI highlighted Advanta Seeds’ extensive demonstration programs and well-developed quality management system, which made the company perform well in the ranking. In addition, together with its parent company, UPL, Advanta offers a range of capacity-building activities, such as smallholder farmer training and improved access to output markets.
“We are truly honored by this recognition,” shares, Bhupen Dubey, Global CEO of Advanta Seeds, “and at the same time, we recognize that we can do more to serve smallholder farmers and contribute to food security.”
