Gujarat CM approves Kharif 2021 Mukhya Mantri Kisan Sahay Yojana for farmers

10 June 2021, Gandhinagar: Gujarat Chief Minister Mr. Vijay Rupani has approved ‘Mukhya Mantri Kisan Sahay Yojana’ for the year 2021 to help millions of farmers in the state against crop losses due to natural calamities during Kharif season. This scheme will cover all the farmers in the state.

It is estimated that more than 53 lakh farmers in the state will benefit from this scheme. Not only that, the farmers will not have to pay any premium or any other registration fee for this scheme.

Crop losses caused by drought, excessive rains, unseasonal rains, etc are also covered in ‘Mukhya Mantri Kisan Sahay Yojana’.

Talking about the assistance standards of ‘Mukhya Mantri Kisan Sahay Yojana’, if the percentage of crop loss occurred in Kharif season is 33 to 60 percent, then the assistance of Rs. 20,000 per hectare will be given up to a maximum of 4 hectares.

Not only that, if the crop loss in kharif season is more than 60%, the assistance of Rs. 25,000 per hectare will be given up to a maximum of 4 hectares.

In addition, forest farmers who have registered under the Forest Rights Act will also get benefit of this scheme.

A dedicated portal will also be set up to receive farmers’ applications online to avail the benefits of the scheme. Beneficiary farmers will have to visit e-Gram centre and apply online through the portal.

Farmers will not have to pay any fees for applications and the state government will bear the full cost of the data entry of applications.

In this ‘Mukhya Mantri Kisan Sahay Yojana’, the amount of assistance from the district level will be paid directly to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries through DBT after calculating the benefits on the basis of preliminary assessment and application of the farmers as well as after approval from taluka level.

A toll-free number has also been provided for the smooth implementation of the scheme as well as for providing guidance to the farmers.

In addition to this scheme, the farmer beneficiaries who are eligible to get the benefits as per the provisions of SDRF scheme will also be eligible.

The Gujarat government has always been on the side of millions of farmers in the state and has also been providing supportive packages to the farmers when natural factors do not support them and their crops are damaged, despite their hard work, due to natural calamities.

Chief Minister Mr. Vijay Rupani has recently announced a package of Rs.500 crore for the farmers in the state, with the purpose of rehabilitating them against the damages caused by Cyclone Tauktae.

Not only that, in the past whenever the farmers of the state had to face crop losses due to natural calamities, CM Mr. Vijay Rupani came up with generous assistance packages, showing his farmer friendly and sensitive approach.

Accordingly, Gujarat government, under the leadership of Mr. Vijay Rupani, also announced a package of Rs. 3700 crores for compensation to the farmers against crop losses caused by heavy rains in the month of August, 2020.

Similarly, in October-November 2019, when non-seasonal rains caused severe losses to farmers in the state, the state government had announced a historic package of Rs 3795 crores.

Also, assistance of Rs. 1673-crore was provided to the farmers of the state against various natural calamities in the year 2018-19 and assistance of Rs. 1706 crores was provided to the farmers against the damage caused in Banaskantha and other districts due to heavy rains in the year 2017-18.
