After neem-coated urea, Indian farmers will now get sulphur-coated urea

08 January 2024, New Delhi: The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) has approved the proposal for the launching of sulphur-coated urea with the name “Urea Gold”. Sulphur-coated coated Urea will be introduced in a 40 kg bag at the same MRP as that of a 45 kg bag of neem-coated urea i.e., Rs 266.50 (inclusive of GST). The official letter for declaration of MRP was sent to all the fertilizer manufacturing companies undersigned by Sankara Subramonian V, Under Secretary, Ministery of Chemicals & Fertilizers, Government of India.

Sulphur-coated urea will be more economical and efficient than the currently used Neem-coated urea. The new sulphur-coated urea will address Sulphur deficiency in the Indian soil. It will also save input costs for the farmers and raise incomes for farmers with enhanced production & productivity.
