Conference to implement OCOP Program and Rural Tourism Development Program for the period of 2021-2025

15 September 2022, VN: On October 9, in Hanoi, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) held a nationwide online conference to implement the OCOP Program and the Rural Tourism Development Program in the new rural construction phase. 2021-2025.

The conference was chaired by Mr. Le Minh Hoan – Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Mr. Tran Thanh Nam – Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development and Mr. Hoang Dao Cuong – Deputy Minister of Culture, Sport and Tourism.

According to the report of Central New Rural Coordination Office, after more than 4 years of implementing the Program under Decision No. 490/QD-TTg dated May 7, 2018 of the Prime Minister, as of August 31, 2022, all 63/63 provinces and cities have assessed and classified products, the whole country has 8,478 OCOP products with 3 stars or more, of which 65.4% are 3 star-products, 33.4% of products. 4 star-products, 1.0% 5 star potential products and 0.2% 5 star products. There have been more than 4,351 OCOP subjects, of which 38.3% are cooperatives, 26.1% are enterprises, 33.3% are production units/households, the rest are cooperatives with 3 star-OCOP products or more.

The program on rural tourism development in new rural construction in the 2021-2025 period is identified as one of the key solutions and tasks to develop the rural economy in association with new rural construction. The objective of the Program is to promote rural tourism development in association with promoting the potential and advantages of agriculture, craft villages, culture and ecological environment of localities, in order to improve the quality of lives, quality and spirit of rural people, contributing to rural economic restructuring towards multi-value integration, inclusiveness and sustainable development.

Thereby, MARD proposed central ministries, branches and provinces and centrally-run cities to focus on directing and effectively implementing the key tasks and solutions assigned by the Prime Minister in the localities. Program approval decision. In which, focusing on directing the development and issuance of the Project/Plan to implement the OCOP Program and the Rural Tourism Development Program in the 2021-2025 period in accordance with the potential and advantages of each locality; Arrange and organize the implementation of the OCOP program and the program on developing rural tourism in a lean and efficient manner, closely associated with the implementation of the National Target Program on building a new countryside; Allocate necessary resources from the local budget, integrate capital sources to organize the implementation of the OCOP Program; supporting infrastructure investment, product development, rural tourist spots associated with new rural construction; Research and develop specific support policies for the development of OCOP products, agricultural and rural tourism in accordance with the orientation and actual conditions of the locality.

Speaking at the conference, Minister Le Minh Hoan emphasized: The OCOP Program and the Rural Tourism Development Program aim to create space for economic development for rural areas and farmers, contributing to building new rural areas more and more effective and real.

On this occasion, MARD announced the Decision approving the results of the National OCOP product rating assessment in 2022 and awarded certificates to the evaluated and rated units./.
