Government of Odisha bans agrochemical Paraquat

08 November 2023, Odisha: On receipt of feedback and reports from various sources on the adverse effect of the pesticide Paraquat on human health & animals, the Government of Odisha released an order to ban it on 5th October 2023.

The State Government had released the order in view of Public Safety and in the exercise of the powers conferred by Section 27 of the Insecticides Act of 1968.

The sale/stock/distribution/manufacturing/use of Paraquat and its derivatives/formulation is banned in the state of Odisha for sixty days from 5th October 2023

The order was signed by the Principal Secretary of the Government of Odisha.
