National Webinar on “Nutrient Management in Dominant Cropping Systems under different Agro-climatic Zones of India” organized

15 November 2021, New Delhi: The ICAR-Indian Institute of Soil Science, Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh organized a National Webinar on “Nutrient Management in Dominant Cropping Systems under different Agro-climatic Zones of India” today.

In his address, the Chief Guest, Dr. Suresh Kumar Chaudhari, Deputy Director General (Natural Resource Management), ICAR apprised the participants about the emerging issues related to nutrient management research and development. The DDG also regarded the multiplicity of cropping systems and declining total factor productivity as one of the main features of the Indian agriculture. The importance of nutrient management through the STCR approach for sustainable crop production was highlighted by the Deputy Director General.

Earlier, delivering the welcome address, Dr. Ashok K. Patra, Director, ICAR-IISS, Bhopal underlined the importance of precise nutrient recommendations for the major cropping systems with strong scientific foundations. Dr. Patra also regarded the nutrient use efficiency as a valuable approach to benchmark the sustainability of nutrient use.

The senior officials of ICAR Institutes and State Agricultural Universities also deliberated during the Webinar.

About 100 participants participated in the Webinar.
