Joint program with Netherlands to enter second phase
16 January 2024, Netherlands: The Dutch Research Council (NWO) has announced a second phase of its joint research program with CGIAR, running from 2024 to 2030.
The “NL-CGIAR Research Program” builds on the positively evaluated first phase (2017–2023). It seeks to bring Dutch and CGIAR expertise together to improve global food and nutrition security.
The second phase will continue a Senior Expert Programme that supports senior Dutch scientists’ participation in various aspects of CGIAR work including in research (management), innovation, knowledge sharing and capacity strengthening.
In addition, as part of the program, grants for researchers from Dutch knowledge institutes will allow for short-term support to address knowledge questions from selected CGIAR Impact Area Platforms and other organizational units that require short-term expert assistance.
One area of specific focus will be the water-food nexus. The program will issue a call for collaboration to generate insights and promote knowledge use and innovation within this space.
The NL-CGIAR Research Program is funded by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs and implemented by NWO, in close collaboration with CGIAR and the Netherlands Food Partnership.
