PM Pranam Scheme: Aimed to reduce use of chemical fertilizer in India

22 September 2022, New Delhi: In order to reduce the use of chemical fertilizers in farming, the government plans to introduce a new scheme by the name “PM Pranam”.

The scheme will reduce the subsidy burden from fertilizer which is expected to increase to 2.25 lakh crore rupees in current financial year 2022-23. This is 39% higher from the subsidy of 2021-22 of 1.62 lakh crore rupees.

The scheme guidelines are not finalized but may include monetary benefits for farmers using organic fertilizer. The idea of the scheme was shared during Rabi conference 2022 at New Delhi among the stakeholders.
