06 January 2022, Indore: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Shajapur in Madhya Pradesh is one of the most active KVK when it comes to technology transfer to the farming community. The KVK has recently organised a demonstration of agrochemical spraying through drone for the local farmers. Dr G.R. Ambawatia and Dr S.S Dhakad lead the two day demonstration for the farming community of village Bharad.

Farmers were told about the drone technology and its use and how it reduces the cost of production. This technique is very useful for horticulture crops like orange, guava, mango as well as wheat, mustard, tur, gram etc. Farmers were informed about the use of drones for spraying of pesticides, soluble fertilizers on crops. With the help of a drone, about one acre of field can be sprayed with just 10 litres of water mixed with agrochemical or soluble fertilizer in just 10 minutes. If the same thing is to be done with manual hand sprayer, it takes about 200 litres of water and about 8-10 hours.

Dr Ambawatia informed the farmers that the drone can be charged in 20 minutes. The cost of the drone is in the range of 4 to 5 lakh rupees. The technology saves a lot of time, water and labor. All types of insecticides, fungicides and soluble fertilizers can be sprayed by the drone.
