30 December 2022, New Delhi: GM Mustard Variety DMH-11 has been tested for three years against the national check variety Varuna in confined field trials at multiple locations in India, shared DG ICAR, Dr. Himanshu Pathak.

The field trials were conducted to assess the impact on human health and the environment according to the stipulated guidelines and applicable rules. GM Mustard Variety DMH-11 has recorded a per-hectare yield of 2.7 tonnes. This is approximately 28 percent more yield than the current mustard yield average of 1.0-1.3 tonnes/hectare.

Using this variety will be a step forward in addressing the problem of low productivity in mustard and the import of edible oil in the future.
