Seminar to connect Vietnam-US agricultural enterprises

16 May 2022, VN: On the afternoon of May 13, in Washington D.C, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development coordinated with partners to organize a seminar to connect Vietnamese-American agricultural enterprises.

According to the Vietnam News Agency correspondent in the US, the seminar was co-chaired by Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Le Minh Hoan and Senior Vice President of the US-ASEAN Business Council (USABC) Marc Mealy.

Attending the seminar were representatives of agencies, businesses and associations in the agricultural sector of the two countries and a number of banks and investment funds.

Several major US industry associations such as the Soybean Export Council, the Grain Council, the National Pork Producers Council and a number of multinational agricultural corporations participated in the event.

At the seminar, the representative of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development informed about the priority strategy for the development of Vietnam’s agricultural sector in the coming period as well as opportunities and challenges for promoting investment and trade between the two parties.

With the desire that the two sides will become reliable and sustainable partners, businesses and industry associations have openly exchanged, especially about difficulties and obstacles in production, business and investment in Vietnam.

Minister Le Minh Hoan pledged to accompany US businesses and investors in handling difficulties and barriers, creating a favorable production, business and investment environment for the international business community in general and the United States in particular.

Immediately after the response of the representative of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to US partners and businesses, 4 cooperation agreements were signed between the parties, including: a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on Sustainable Agriculture Development Partnership with Pepsico and Care International on strengthening food production cooperation in Vietnam; Memorandum of Understanding between Bac Giang province and ERG corporation on promoting trade in local agricultural products; Memorandum of Understanding between Moc Thinh Phat furniture production joint stock company and Grasslands Farms company on promoting trade in agricultural products; and a memorandum of understanding between Nevist Vietnam International Import-Export Company and AGP on trade and investment promotion in the agricultural sector.
