(DLG). With an outstanding turnout of exhibitors, Agritechnica 2023 kicked off on 12 November, 2023 at the exhibition grounds in Hanover, Germany. Up until 18 November, the world’s leading trade fair for agricultural machinery will be the venue for global farm equipment and agriculture. “With 2,811 exhibitors from 52 nations, the exhibition grounds are fully booked. This underlines Agritechnica’s prominent position as a global showcase for innovations, a leading business platform and a forum for the important issues of the future in the agricultural sector,” said Tobias Eichberg, managing director of DLG Service GmbH, at the international press conference that marked the start of the trade fair. Agritechnica is organized by the DLG (German Agricultural Society).

The Agritechnica trade fair is more international than ever, which is reflected in the 65 percent of exhibitors coming from outside Germany, a new record. The majority of these companies hail from Italy (351), China (182), Turkey (159), the Netherlands (141), France (106), India (81), Poland (73), Austria (67), UK (59) and the United States (57). Additionally, 23 countries and regions have registered in joint pavilions, including for the first time Nebraska State, the Netherlands, Northern Ireland, Sweden, Taiwan and Ukraine. The exhibitor portfolio underlines the global integration of the international agricultural machinery sector and the importance of Agritechnica as the leading international information and agribusiness platform. The DLG is expecting a high level of interest, awaiting more than 400,000 German and international visitors.

“Green Productivity “: Agricultural machinery sector with solutions for productive and sustainable agriculture

The agricultural sector must adapt to prevailing conditions. In the future, increases in productivity must be achieved with lower intensity usage of inputs, protecting the environment and nature. This makes inspiration and solutions through technical and professional progress all the more important. “Innovations in agricultural machinery are the key to ‘green productivity’. This is also demonstrated through the innovations that the DLG has honored with an Innovation Award. This year, our exhibitors submitted 251 new products and solutions to this award scheme,” says Eichberg, underlining the high innovation potential of the agricultural machinery industry. In addition to the established manufacturers, numerous start-ups, to which Agritechnica has dedicated an entire exhibition area in Pavilion 11, is providing valuable stimulus.

International technical program designed for personal exchange

Thanks to its professional program with numerous international expert presentations, Agritechnica is regarded as the most important future-oriented forum in the agricultural sector. This year, the DLG and its partners are offering five “Expert Stages” with 300 presentations, five international conferences, 470 speakers, two spotlights and six award ceremonies over seven days.

“Agritechnica is a unique event with a global dimension. Face-to-face international professional exchange is at its core. The many in-depth talks and discussions among exhibitors, experts and visitors from all over the world make Agritechnica not only the leading showcase for the latest technologies, but also a valuable venue where people from the industry can network in-person, share knowledge and build long-term relationships,” says Eichberg, describing the unique profile of the world’s leading trade fair for agricultural machinery. “At Agritechnica, it is not uncommon for practitioners to enter into a professional exchange with engineers and digitization experts – something that is hardly possible in everyday life,” he adds.

New content – Innovative formats – Improved services

Agritechnica, also this year, has further expanded its exhibition and technical program by integrating new content and innovative formats. DLG’s stand in Hall 24 with its Expert Stage, Studio Stage and International Visitors Lounge serves as a center for professional exchange. In two themed spotlights, experts will be exploring current developments in the field of smart farming (Hall 9) and the latest self-contained food systems from the field of controlled environment agriculture (Hall 24). Visitors, who register with participating exhibitors in advance, can test alternative powertrain systems at the “Drive Experience” point in the dedicated outdoor area. In the DLG.Prototype.Club (Pavilion 11), young software developers will demonstrate that they can solve digital challenges for agriculture.

The International Farmers Day taking place on 14 November at Agritechnica will focus on the two leading agricultural nations, France and Poland. On 15 November, the new event “Celebrate Purpose” (Hall 24) will be launched. The aim is to create awareness about the passion, issues and challenges of modern agriculture and so inspire people to a career in farming and the farm equipment industry. As part of the event, the Women in Ag Award will be presented to 12 inspiring women from farming and agribusiness. Over 130 women from 38 countries were candidates in the award scheme.

For the second time, the DLG Agri Influencer Award will be presented this year covering three awards, YouTube, Instagram and TikTok, each with two language categories, German and international. The award ceremony will take place as part of the Young Farmers Party on 16 November.

The further improved services continue to offer visitors simple navigation through the wide range of products at the trade fair. An efficient planning tool for visitors, the improved Agritechnica app allows bookmarking favorite exhibitors and calendar-marking of events and meetings. The Agritechnica app can also be used to QR-scan the “DLG Mixie Points”, which can instantaneously download product information from exhibitors. The DLG Mixie Points are located at each of the stands with visitors receiving the relevant product information directly on their smart phones, saving paper.

The option in the App of choosing themed routes such as Crop-Protection-Tech, Plant-Nutrition-Tech, Future-Ag-Tech, Climate Change and Cover-Crop will lead visitors directly to exhibitors, products and events covering the given topic.

This year’s “Green Tickets” offer trade fair visitors the opportunity to support reforestation projects in Germany, a sustainability initiative at Agritechnica 2023.
