26 July 2021, New Delhi: Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Bahowal, Hoshiarpur, under the aegis of Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana organized a kisan goshti and district level training camp on Fruit Nutrition Garden on 22nd July, 2021 for the farmers and ATMA staff of the blocks for establishment of fruit nutrition garden under ATMA Scheme.
In the programme, Dr. Maninder Singh Bons, Deputy Director (Training), Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Hoshiarpur welcomed the guests, experts, ATMA staff and farmers and assured them that this model would be successfully implemented in the district with the help of ATMA. He explained the nutritional value of fruits and the benefits of quality and healthy fruits in home gardening.
Dr. Sukhwinder Singh Aulakh, Assistant Professor (Vegetable Science) gave a detailed presentation on the fruit nutrition garden model developed by PAU, Ludhiana, its planning, plantation and care.
Dr. Indira, Fruit Science expert from Farm Advisory Service Centre, Gangian shared information on fruit varieties, disease and pest control.
Sh. Raman Sharma, Deputy Project Director, ATMA apprised the farmers about the scheme in which fruit plants would be procured from Punjab Agricultural University and provided to the interested farmers for establishing a demonstration model in their villages.
Dr. Harpreet Singh, Agriculture Development Officer, Mahilpur shared information about the facilities being provided by the department.
Dr. Subhash Chander, Agriculture Officer, Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Block Garhshankar, described it as a commendable step and urged the farmers and staff present to work diligently to make this model a success.
A visit was also arranged to Fruit Nutrition Garden model established at KVK and a book on “Phalan Di Kashat Lai Sifarishan” of Punjab Agricultural University was provided to the participants under ATMA scheme.
Twenty six participating farmers gave their consent for establishing the demonstration units in their fields.
