Corteva has been the lead sponsor of the popular video game since 2019. Developed by GIANTS Software, Farming Simulator has attracted millions of virtual farmers from around the world in simulating the real-life operations and economics of managing a farm.

Corteva Agriscience brand products, including Pioneer® brand seeds and Corteva Agriscience crop protection products, are featured in the game, giving it a more realistic feel and introducing players to advanced farming principles, inputs and techniques.

There is also a Farming Simulator League championship of 11 contests planned, with online competitions and live events planned across Europe for the 2020-2021 season. For the first time, Corteva will be participating in the league with its own team, the Burning-Gamers.de (BG powered by Corteva Agriscience), who compete in the tournaments under the name Corteva Agriscience

Dana Bolden, Corteva Agriscience Chief Communications Officer, said: “On the field and in the game, we strive to spark enthusiasm for the next generation of farming. From gamers who love farming to future farmers that love gaming, our involvement in the eSports arena is a great opportunity to interact with the younger generation.

Corteva is focused on effectively harnessing science, technology and innovation to spark forward-thinking and sustainable agriculture practices. Through Farming Simulator, we hope to harness this same passion and highlight what innovation looks like in agriculture.”

Corteva’s 2030 Sustainability Strategy includes 14 goals to be achieved during the next 10 years, based around four key pillars: Goals to benefit farmers; Goals to benefit the land; Goals to benefit communities – including a commitment to enable youth – and Goals for the company’s operations.

Bolden added: “The Farming Simulator collaboration is one of several concrete initiatives that Corteva has undertaken to engage young people and make our sustainability vision — enriching lives now and for generations to come — a reality.

“We are excited to have secured players from the popular Burning-Gamers.de team to represent Corteva in the league.”

Team Captain Felix Hasenberger said: “We are excited to be participating in the 2021 Farming Simulator League, and proud to be working with Corteva to spark enthusiasm among the next generation of farmers. See you at the tournaments!”

The final of the Corteva-sponsored 2019-2020 Farming Simulator League took place in September 2020, with Team Trelleborg awarded first prize.
