China’s pesticide export value continued to increase in April 2021

28 June 2021, China: China’s pesticide export continued to rise slightly in quantity but in a much higher value, due to the continued price rise. The quantity of export was 256,900 tons, up 3% year on year. The export volume converted to 100% content was 136,800 tons, up 11% year on year, with an export value of $2.042 billion, up 70% year on year.

As far as technicals and formulations are concerned, both technicals and formulations have increased, where value has increased in a much higher rate than quantity. The export quantity of technicals was 84,600 tons, up 9% year on year. The export volume converted to 100% content was 73,500 tons, up 17% year on year, with an export value of $1.33 billion, which was a 96% increase year on year. The quantity of export of formulations was 172,300 tons, which stayed same as last year, with an export volume of 63,300 tons converted to 100% content, up 6% up year on year, with an export value of $712 million, up 37% year on year.

In terms of pesticide categories, from value and quantity perspective, the export of herbicides, insecticide and fungicides have all increased in both value and quantity, except for plant growth regulators which increased slightly in quantity but decreased significantly in value. The export volume of herbicide converted to 100% content was 93,800 tons, with an export value of $1.042 billion; The quantity of insecticide export was 24,000 tons, with an export value of $649 million; and the quantity of fungicides was 16,500 tons, with an export value of $324 million.
