19 August 2022, US: We were pleased to see the passage of the Inflation Reduction Act and its signature into law this week. This legislation is an investment in our future that empowers farmers to lead the charge on addressing climate, moving us closer to the day when we are able to end hunger. With our global food systems threatened and food insecurity palpable for so many, this $40 billion investment in climate-smart agriculture will help us develop the resources and tools to mitigate climate change and produce healthy food for all.

Farmers, ranchers, and fishers continually deal with the impacts of changing climatic conditions, like increasing droughts and more frequent intense rain events, to deliver our food. Their work underpins our collective wellbeing. It is abundantly clear that we need to follow their lead and face the climate-threat with investments and innovations that will ultimately lead to rejuvenation and regeneration. The Inflation Reduction Act codifies the role of agriculture in shaping climate and clean energy policy in the United States of America, a role that the World Food Prize Foundation wholeheartedly supports.
