KVK Ujjain receives ICAR award for Technological Driven Agriculture
Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) – Ujjain received a cash award of Rs. 7.50 Lacs from ICAR for leading the district farmers to technological driven agriculture on the occasion of ICAR’s 92nd Foundation day.
16th July 2020, New Delhi: On the occasion of 92nd foundation day and award ceremony of Indian Council of Agriculture Research, KVK Ujjain received the award of Technological Driven Agriculture by Minister of Agriculture and Farmers welfare, Government of India Mr. Narendra Singhji Tomar along with Director General of ICAR Dr Trilochan Mahapatra in a ceremony held at New Delhi.

The award carries a citation and a cash award of Rs 7.50 lacs for the services rendered by the organization in leading the district to technological driven agriculture and in helping the farmers to double their income by 2022.
Krishi Vigyan Kendra Ujjain was established in the year 2005-06 under the administrative control of Rajmata Vijaya Raje Scindia Krishi Vishwa Vidyalaya, Gwalior one among the 81 establishments in Zone -9 of Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute of ICAR.

The purpose to establish the KVK in Ujjain was to fulfil the National vision of Science and technology-led growth leading to enhanced productivity, profitability and sustainability of agriculture, to fulfil the mission of Farmer-centric growth in agriculture and allied sectors through application of appropriate technologies in specific agro-ecosystem perspective by way of the mandate by Technology Assessment and Demonstration for its Application and Capacity Development for the welfare of the farmers of the district.
Key contributions of the KVK Ujjain have been in the modelling of Integrated farming system for small and marginal farmers, promotion and demonstration of use of Sulphur and Zinc in soybean, popularisation of planting technique in black soils through FIRBs and BBF, Scientific technology dissemination in achieving record yield of 91 q/ha of durum wheat, replacement of kabuli chickpea variety, protected cultivation.
During the last five years the center has assessed more than 80 technologies, laid more than 750 demonstrations apart from 900 practical trainings to farmers, farm women, rural youth and extension functionaries of the state.
