Training Programme On Nursery Raising Of Agroforestry Trees Begins At KVK, Ropar

21 December 2020, Punjab, IN: A five-day training programme on ‘Nursery Raising of Agroforestry Trees’ began at PAU’s Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Ropar on December 21, 2020 under the aegis of Director of Extension Education. Nine farmers and farm women from Ropar district registered for the training progarmme.

Dr GS Makkar, Deputy Director (Training), KVK, Ropar welcomed the participants and apprised them of the huge demand of good quality nursery plants, especially, poplar in the district. It is a golden opportunity for the trainees to come up with a nursery production enterprise, he added.

Ms Ankurdeep Preety, Assistant Professor (Agroforestry), informed that during the training programme, information on technologies of nursery raising of various agroforestry trees, such as Poplar, Eucalyptus, Dek, Neem, Shisham and Kikar will be shared with the trainees. The training will focus on propagation techniques for different tree species with special emphasis on Poplar due to its high demand in the region, along with recommended practices of irrigation and fertilizer management in nursery, IPM practices, marketing linkages, etc.
