Progressive Farmers Share Their Experiences During PAU Live Programme

23 December 2020, Punjab, IN: The Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) organized a live programme today wherein Amarinder Singh Poonia, a progressive farmer, shared his experience. Referring to PAU Kisan Club, he said that the club was established with an aim to equip the farmers with the knowledge about latest recommendations made in agriculture. He also informed about the process of membership, meetings and futuristic vision of the club. He delved upon the traditional crops as well as vegetable cultivation.

Dr Kulbir Singh, Vegetable Scientist, addressed the queries of the farmers regarding nursery raising of onion. He also dwelt upon nursery raising of chillies, tomato and other vegetables; and use of low tunnel technology for vegetable cultivation.

Mr Sukhpal Singh, a successful mushroom grower, while sharing his experience, explained the cultivation of dhingri and button mushrooms as well as their marketing. Various training courses are organized by PAU on mushroom cultivation and farmers must acquire these trainings for better income, he added.

Dr Inderpreet Kaur, Entomologist and Mr Ravinder Bhalooria, Mobilizer, Skill Development Centre, informed about the farm operations to be carried out in the upcoming days.
