27 February 2021, Punjab: The communication Centre of Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana organized a farmers awareness camp at village Cheema near Jagraon on 26.02.2021 to aware farmers about agroadvisory services and weather related mobile Apps. More than 100 farmers participated in the event and interacted with PAU experts to resolve their queries. This camp was organized under Gramin Krishi Sewa, IMD, GoI. The PI of the project Dr Kulwinder Kaur Gill welcomed all the participants and presented trophies to S. Parminder Singh, Sarpanch of the village and Dr Kuldeep Singh, Head, Deptt. Of Extension Education, PAU, Ludhiana to formally welcome them. The vegetable kits and PAU literature was also distributed among the participants free of cost to boost up the farmers to adopt PAU practices.
Dr Sandeep Singh Sandhu, Agronomist apprised the farmers about the latest cultivation techniques of wheat crop and also about the usage of leaf colour chart recommended by PAU for the judicious use of urea. Dr Parminder Singh, Plant Pathologist awarded the farmers about the different diseases occurring in wheat and also cleared the doubts of farmers. Dr Yuvraj Singh Pandha, Entomologist warned the farmers to be cautious about the attack of Jassid, Thrip in wheat due to sudden rise in temperature. Dr Rooma Devi, Vegetable Scientist encouraged the farmers to grow kitchen garden for fresh and pesticides free vegetables for their own family. Dr Kulwinder Kaur Gill explained about the weather agroadvisory services and the different mobile Apps launched by IMD to get weather alerts on their phones. A weather and mobile Apps related folder was also released during the event.
Dr Kuldeep Singh explored the different extension services of the university and appealed to the village people to strengthen the village society and offered full support from PAU for the development of the village.
