19 September 2021, Ludhiana: Krishi Vigyan Kendra Bathinda under the able guidance of Director, ICAR -ATARI Ludhiana and Director of Extension Education, PAU Ludhiana organized one day National Campaign on Poshan Abhiyan and Tree Plantation on 17th September 2021 in collaboration with IFFCO and curtain raiser for “International Year of Millets 2023”.Dr. APS Dhaliwal, Incharge, KVK Bathinda formally welcomed the farmer and farm women and delivered a brief lecture on Backyard poultry for nutrition requirement. Dr. J. K. Brar, Assoc. Prof.(H.Sc.), guided the participants regarding Nutri cereal and their role on human health.
Dr. Sarvpriya Singh, AP (Fruit Sci) highlighted the importance of healthy and nutrious food and also encouraged farmers and farm women to adopt nutrition garden at household level. A lecture on Role of plantation on sustainable and rural livelihood was given by Dr. Vinay Singh, AP(Plant Protection). A short competition on identification of millets and their recipes conducted and prizes were distributed among top three recipes. . More than 100 farmers and farm women participated in this programme. Web telecast of the programme by Mr. Narendra Singh Tomar, Hon’ble Union Minister for Agriculture & FW, Dr. Udal Shanker Awasthi MD & CEO IIFO; Secretary (agriculture)-DAC&FW, Secretary, DARE was also shown to participants during the programme. 100 seed packets of vegetable kits and fruit & forest plants provided by IFFCO were distributed among the participants. All the participants were provided locally available millet based food and food products in order to create awareness about benefits of millets. Many plants were planted in KVK Campus itself. In the end, Dr. Sarvpriya Singh, AP (Fruit Sci) thanked all the participants for making this event successful.
