PAU holds publication awareness camp for cooperative societies of Patiala

25 October 2021, Punjab: The Communication Centre, Punjab Agricultural University Ludhiana, today organized a publication awareness camp for cooperative societies of Patiala in view of the oncoming Rabi season. Dr KK Gill Senior Agrometeorologist, while discussing about the weather advisories generated by PAU, highlighted the university’s weekly digital newspaper Kheti Sandesh and its wide circulation among farmers of Punjab. Dr Sandeep Singh, Agronomist dwelled on wheat cultivation practices, new and water conserving wheat varieties recommended by PAU and the need to break the wheat-ricr cropping pattern to save water as well as environment. He urged the cooperative societies to go in for soil testing and promoting kitchen gardens at the farmers family level. Dr Yuvraj Pandhi, Entomologist threw light on diseases in wheat crop as well as insect pest management.

Ms Gulneet Chahal, Assistant Director Publication and coordinator of the camp motivated the secretaries of cooperative societies to increase their connection with the university in the interest of the farming community, by enrolling as members of publications, Changi Kheti and Progressive Farming. She further exhorted them to sensitize farmers about PAU recommended farming techniques for sustainable agriculture.

The camp was facilitated by Mr Nikhil Garg, Assistant Registrar, Patiala Cooperative Societies. 43 secretaries of different cooperative societies participated in the camp.
