PAU Holds A Webinar On Agricultural Education Day

04 December 2020, Punjab, IN: The Department of Extension Education, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), organized a state level webinar for the students of Government Senior Secondary Schools of Punjab to celebrate Agricultural Education Day on December 3. A total of 200 students from Nankana Sahib Public School, Samrala; Government Senior Secondary Smart School, PAU, Ludhiana; SVM, Barnala; Senior Secondary School, Galib Kalan, Jagraon; Government Senior Secondary School, Dhurkot, Mansa; GSSS Chakar and many others from across the Punjab attended the webinar. The webinar was organised with an aim to encourage the students to adopt agriculture as a profession.

Highlighting the importance of agriculture for youth, Dr Kuldeep Singh, Professor-cum-Head Department of Extension Education, shared different aspects of agriculture and allied enterprises. He shared his experience of entrepreneurship training programmes at Krishi Vigyan Kendras and motivated the students to come forward for the same.

The webinar Coordinator and Associate Professor of Extension Education Dr Manmeet Kaur highlighted various degree programmes of PAU that students can join after their schooling. She also pinpointed different job prospects that agricultural education holds for participating students.

Throwing light on the importance of entrepreneurship for youth, Dr Khushdeep Dharni, Professor, School of Business Studies, explained the pre-requisites for becoming an entrepreneur and featured various agri-entrepreneurial avenues for the youth to undertake.

The webinar ended with an appeal to the youth to share this information with their family and come forward with a positive approach in shaping their future in agriculture sector.
