The State Government Is Committed To Encourage Farmers To Adopt Scientific Farming Techniques And Thus Increase Their Income

04 February 2021, Chandigarh: Haryana Education Minister, Mr. Kanwar Pal has said that the state government is committed to encourage farmers to adopt scientific farming techniques and thus increase their income. For this, the government has started Pragatishil Kisan Samman Yojana.

Mr. Kanwar Pal was discussing the government’s plans at his residence in Jagadhri today. He informed that under this Scheme a reward of Rs. 5 lakh will be given to progressive farmers who bag first place in the state. Similarly, a provision has been made to give Rs 3 lakh each to two farmers securing second position and Rs 1 lakh each to five farmers securing third position. He informed that there is a plan to give a prize of Rs 50,000 each to 100 farmers as consolation prize.

He said that this will motivate the farmers to adopt latest agricultural techniques. For this, another scheme, Pragatishil Kisan Trainer Yojana has been started. Every progressive farmer will motivate 10 farmers to adopt modern and superior scientific farming techniques. The government has also started Kisan Mitra Scheme to expedite it. Under this Scheme, progressive farmers will help in financial management of at least 100 farmers and 17,000 Kisan Mitra will guide 17 lakh farmers in this area.

 He informed that the Haryana government has also decided to open 2,000 retail outlets in the name of Harit Store in the state. These outlets will act as mini super markets. Products prepared by Self-Help Groups along with cooperative products will be sold at these stores. Also, 192 laboratories are being set up in the state to provide soil and water testing facilities to farmers.
