MOU between MPUAT and Sona Genetics Pvt. Limited, Ahmedabad

21 October 2021, Ahmedabad: Dr. Narendra Singh Rathore, Vice-Chancellor, Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and Technology, Udaipur while exchanging the Memorandum of Understanding between MPUAT, Udaipur and Sona Genetics Pvt. Ltd., Ahmadabad (Gujarat) said that seed is one of the most valuable and critical compartment in crop production. The research in seed sector is being given prime importance in state of Rajasthan to avail farmers the varieties of different crops having short duration, high yielding, low water requiring and disease resistant. He mentioned that Pratap Hybrid Maize-3 variety of maize is getting popularity among farmers due to better adaptation and high yield but he urged that farmers should be made aware to follow package of practices of maize. He mentioned that for Evergreen Agriculture, science should be followed from research to final technology adoption.

Mr. Hemant Joshi, General Manager, Sona Genetics Pvt. Limited, Ahmadabad informed that the company is working in the field of seed research and seed production of major crops like bajra, maize, paddy and sorghum having its Research and Development Centre at Kheda district, Gujarat. The company is working in the states of Bihar, Jharkhand, UP, Rajasthan, MP, Punjab and Haryana. The company has signed MoUs with NAFED and NSC for marketing of seeds.

Dubey, ADR (Seed and Farms), Dr. Virendra Nepalia, OSD to Vice-Chancellor, Dr. I. J. Mathur, Coordinator ATIC from MPUAT and Mr. Shubham Upadhyay, Plant Breeder, Sona Genetics Pvt. Ltd. were present in the meeting in which this MoU was signed.
