Madhya Pradesh completes 50 percent rabi sowing
29 November 2021, Bhopal: Sowing of crops has started gaining momentum in the current Rabi season. So far 50% of the sowing has been completed against the target in Madhya Pradesh. This year, emphasis is being laid on increasing the area of pulses and oilseed crops by reducing the area of wheat in the state, their target has been increased. So far, wheat has been sown in 37.11 lakh hectares whereas last year wheat was sown in 33.27 lakh hectares during this period. Till now sowing has been done in 72.02 lakh hectares whereas last year it was sown in 62.77 lakh hectares during this period.
According to the Agriculture Department, the general area of Rabi crops in the state is 107 lakh 33 thousand hectares. Last year, 138.78 lakh hectare was sown while this year the target has been set to take rabi crops in 138.89 lakh hectare. According to the Agriculture Department, so far 72.02 lakh hectares have been sown which is 50 percent of the target. So far, gram has been sown in 17.92 lakh hectare, which was 16.70 lakh hectare in the same period last year.
The sowing target of mustard, the main oilseed crop of the state, is 8.63 lakh and 9.43 lakh has already been sown, adding 80 thousand hectares more than the target. This year sugarcane has been sown in 19 thousand hectares so far against the target of 1.44 lakh hectares. So far, the total grain crops in the state is at 37.58 lakh, pulses crops at 24.25 lakh ha. and oilseed crops at 9.99 lakh ha. have been sown.
