03 November 2021, Punjab: The PAU’s Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Ropar under the aegis of Directorate of Extension Education, Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana and ICAR-ATARI, Zone-1 inaugurated a new FPC constituted under the name of Uttam Khet FPC Ltd. on October 3, 2021. The initiative is a part of ‘Handholding FPOs via ‘Mission Grow Together’ of KVK Ropar.
The inauguration programme was graced by Sh. Dinesh K. Vashisht, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Dev.) Ropar in which around 70 member farmers participated in this programme. Sh. Vashisht appreciated the efforts of member farmers and the KVK Ropar for facilitating the constitution of this FPC. He emphasized that FPOs/FPCs are one of the strongest means of empowering farmer groups and making agriculture profitable and sustainable.
Dr. G.S. Makkar, Deputy Director (Trg.), KVK Ropar apprised the house about the concept and proposed business model for this FPC. He highlighted that the new vistas of value addition, market linkages, digital platform, input-output dynamics and transparency in transactions may open new ways to more remunerative and sustainable agriculture.
Dr. Aparna, Coordinator, CRM project, KVK Ropar proposed the establishment of custom hiring center under this new FPC for facilitating the farmers.
Dr. Princy, Assistant professor (Home Sci.) highlighted the role of rural women in further strengthening the working of FPC.
At the end Sh. Naveen Dardi, Director of FPC Uttam Khet proposed a vote of thanks to all the participants.
