International Fruit and Vegetable Terminus being set up in Ganaur, Haryana

27 July 2020, Chandigarh: The Haryana State Agriculture Minister said that the consultant has been appointed to operate the International Fruit and Vegetable Terminus being set up in Ganaur and the work will be started soon. In this market, better packaging, least damage management and transportation management will be emphasized.

Haryana Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister, Mr. Jai Prakash Dalal said that the State Government is committed to make farmers prosperous. In this manner, apart from formulating new schemes to encourage farmers to cultivate horticulture and other cash crops instead of conventional crops, the State government is making adequate arrangements for marketing.

He said that Maharana Pratap Horticultural University has been set up in Karnal and its three Regional Study Centres have also been set in the State. He said that Haryana is such a state in the country where there are Agriculture Universities, Horticulture Universities and Veterinary Universities.

Besides this, various plans are being made for farmers to increase their income in Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Horticulture as well. Recently, out of an economic package of one lakh crore rupees announced by the Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi to develop agricultural infrastructure in the country, Rs 3900 crore have been allocated to Haryana.

Agro Tech Fest from October

The Agriculture Minister said that with the aim of promoting organic farming as well as new techniques of horticulture, a Horticulture Centre of Excellence is being set up in every district in the State. He informed that cooperation is also being sought from the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) for research and development in agricultural mechanism and other fields.

The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) will be organizing Agro Tech Fest from October 16 to 22, 2020, in which farmers will be made aware of new technologies of agriculture.
